QUOTE OF THE DAY
Surround yourself with positive people.
Let’s be honest, we all get easily bored. Being on the internet for hours can get boring too, especially if you don’t really have any random thought to look for on Google. Even chatting with a friend online or scrolling endlessly on social networks do get old easily. But do not be alarmed, there are still fun things to do when you are bored.
Things to do at Home
When you don’t particularly want to get your skin burned or yourself turning into ashes by the sunlight, you can still enjoy the great indoors. Actually cleaning the house is a good start. Clean every room, every nook, and every cranny you can find. And as you clean, you’d be amazed at the things you find lying around your home.
But if cleaning isn’t your forte, here are some suggestions to entertain yourself within the confines of your utopia.
Watch a movie or conduct a movie marathon:
You see those DVD’s you bought? Why not re-watch them and relive the stories that made you cry, laugh, and blush. You can even watch those animated movies that you might have been too embarrassed to watch in front of your friends.
Read a bookPick up a real solid book and read:
Re-read the classics you have lying around the house collecting dust. Read those books that were given to you for some reason you really can’t remember. You’d be surprised if you get so immersed in the story that you when you look up it’s already night time.
Do a puzzle:
It can be a jigsaw, crossword, Word Find, or Sudoku, whatever pleases your heart—or what you can find in the entertainment section of your local newspaper. It’s a great way to exercise the brain and you’ll learn new things, particularly words.
Cook or bake:
Pull out that cook book your mother always uses or look for a recipe online and start cooking. If you don’t have the ingredients, then improvise. After all the hard work, you can actually eat it (if it looks edible enough) and be satisfied by your own mini accomplishment.
Create a fort:
As childish as it seems, it is sort of the point of it all. Drag those pillows, comforters, cushions, and chairs to make that fort your inner child will envy. This can be considered one of the cool things to do when you really have nothing to do.
Arts and crafts:
Learn how to knit and make your own beanie. May it be origami, sewing, crochet, or even painting, bring out the innovative side in you. You can even construct your own scrapbook to help unclutter those thick photo albums.
Some things to do outside
If you are now fed up with being hauled up inside the house for too long, now is a good time to go outside. Even if you’re not actually an athletic person, you can still enjoy the outdoors. Do wear comfortable clothing and bring along some snacks if you think that you’re going to take long. Double check if your phone is fully charged and you actually did bring your wallet.
With all that said and done, here are some semi-serious and considerably funny things to do outside. And by funny, I mean you would actually consider going outside, at all.
Make a movie plan:
Call your friends and start filming. No matter if you want to make a short film, a mini-series, or a music video, bring out the director attitude and start rolling. Once you’re done, you can upload it as it is or edit it. Share it with your friends and family and you can look back on it whenever you’re bored.
Yes, I said it, exercise. Go for a jog, do some yoga in the backyard (if you have a backyard), or go for a walk alone or with your pet. Exercising doesn’t have to include lifting weights or getting covered in sweat.
Volunteer at an animal shelter:
If you like animals, then this is a good activity to do. It will actually make you happy (and sort of sad—but mostly happy) to help out and even play with the animals if you don’t have a pet or you’re not allowed to have a pet in your apartment.
Go for an adventure!
Either by car, train, or bike, go to a place in the city or town that you don’t usually go to. Make sure the neighbourhood is safe first though. You can also bike around the wealthy neighbourhood street and you might stumble upon a secret park on your own.
No matter what your preferences are, there are endless possible things to do when you get bored out of your mind. Relax and think about what you can do to pass the time productively. Don’t settle for just sleeping around. Try new things!
Leave a comment of what activities you do when you get bored. It may help a lot of people who are looking for a new experience.
