6. Dumbo Octopus. Dumbo octopus is another name for Grimpoteuthis, the rarest oftheOctopoda species that inhabits the ocean at depths of 3,000 to 4,000 meters (at times even at 7,000 meters). It has ear-like fins which protrude from the mantle above its eyes, which make it look like Dumbo, the flying elephant in Walt Disney’s story.
